What is Anxiety?
Anxiety is a feeling most people are familiar with. For some, it begins with a tightness in the chest; for others, it’s a racing mind or a fixation on a particular thought or event. Sometimes, the cause is clear and grounded in real-life concerns. Other times, it may seem irrational—even to the person experiencing it. While some people learn to manage anxiety on their own, for others, it can deeply affect their daily lives and the choices they make.
The truth is, anxiety is incredibly common. Nearly one in four people in North America experiences an anxiety-related condition each year. Yet, only about 40% of those affected seek professional support. That’s where anxiety counselling can make a real difference.
Anxiety can take many forms. Generalized Anxiety involves persistent, excessive worry about various aspects of life. Panic Anxiety is marked by sudden, intense episodes known as panic attacks. Social Anxiety arises in social settings, especially unfamiliar or crowded ones. There are also Specific Phobias, where a particular object or situation triggers intense fear—often misunderstood by others as an overreaction.
No matter how your anxiety shows up, you don’t have to face it alone. I’m here to help you understand it, manage it, and move toward a more peaceful and empowered life.
How Can Anxiety Counselling Help?
